Housing Ombudsman publishes batch of decisions on individual complaints
The Housing Ombudsman has published another batch of decisions from its online casebook, which now includes almost 1,000 cases. The most recent decisions include cases relating to:
- Clarion – a maladministration finding in respect of the landlord’s handling of an electrical repair both before and during lockdown, meaning that the tenant was without the use of a bedroom for seven months. The Ombudsman ordered Clarion to pay £1,400 in compensation
- Habinteg – a finding of reasonable redress following a complaint about mould, due to a combination of apologies offered, service improvements made and compensation awarded and
- Guinness – a maladministration finding in respect of the landlord’s response to a report of a blocked drain and its handling of a subsequent complaint. The Ombudsman ordered Guinness to pay £700 in compensation and to refund the £1,280 rent the resident had paid to his parents for staying with them, or refund him the rent paid for his flat, while he was absent.
