Chartered Institute of Housing sets out its priorities for the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26)

The Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) has set out its priorities for the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26).  Writing to stakeholders, Gavin Smart, Chief Executive of the CIH, said that at COP26 the CIH wants to hear more about:

  • How governments will provide greater incentives and support for retrofitting existing housing across all tenures
  • A realistic and ambitious pathway for all new homes to be zero carbon and how they will be funded and
  • Critical decisions to be made on future heating systems and decarbonisation of the electricity grid.
