Regulator of Social Housing publishes Regulatory Notice for Beyond Housing

The Regulator of Social Housing (RSH) has published a Regulatory Notice for Beyond Housing, which has over 14,000 homes in management across Teesside and Yorkshire.

Beyond made a self-referral to the RSH regarding non-compliance with the Rent Standard.  An external review has been conducted and Beyond has taken specialist and legal advice.

The RSH concluded that:

  • Beyond is not compliant with the Rent Standard and prior to the introduction of the Rent Standard, between 1 April 2016 to 21 March 2020, it was not compliant with the legislative requirements of the Welfare Reform and Work Act 2016
  • Since 2010 Beyond has charged inaccurate rents on 486 properties as a result of incorrectly classifying units of general needs accommodation as intermediate rent and
  • At least £2m has been overcharged by Beyond in respect of these issues.

All of the RJs, RNs and GUR listings published by the RSH can be viewed on the RSH’s website here.
